Hello! My name is Taylor Garcia, and I’ll be achieving my Bachelors of Science in Nursing at The Pennsylvania State University. I truly enjoy writing about topics I am passionate about because I feel it can be an outlet for any frustration I am feeling. I am taking this course as it is required for my graduation, but I am becoming increasingly interested in the culture and fieldworking aspect of this course. Writing about ideas that matter in today’s world is really important to me, as I think that someone could make a worlds of difference with their words. Writing about current topics in our political and cultural climate is also important to me because it keeps me up-to-date on what is happening in our world, forces me to do more research than just reading through twitter. I’m hoping this class will help me not only write professional resumes and cover letters to prepare me for my future, but also help me write about topics I’m passionate about, which could help me when I’m doing research in my field and need to apply for a grant. This is one of my goals, actually. I want to be able to articulate my passions in such a way that I can get others to not only listen to what I’m saying, but really hear what I’m trying to say. I want to be able to get my point across in a way that is not stepping on anyone’s toes. I want to be someone that no matter who I’m talking to (whether they agree or strongly disagree with what I’m talking about), they will truly hear what I’m saying because I’m not creating walls that distract them from my points.
